Which Buckmark do you have? I love the Buckmark, I just hate cleaning them. I wouldn't mind having another one, but I am really tempted by a S&W 617 6" if I found one locally I would have bought it already.

I have the Camper. It's not too bad to take down, but it does require a couple of hex drivers. When I got it, the mkIII edged it in my mind but the ergos of the Buckmark won me over. Fun little plinker and start pistol (for me).

On a side note, I randomly came across some pix of a Sig Sauer 1911 Fastback Nightmare. Purdy...

Yeah, they feel and shoot great. I have a standard nickel and a silhouette. They had a target model with a fluted 7 1/4" barrel (that I bought for my brother) and still want. Now they have a contour that I would like... I think my next .22 will be a 617.

On another subject, I just bought an m&p, we'll see how it compares to the glock.

Walther Mod. P38

For the fellow military collectors;

Walther Mod. P38, approximately 1,800 produced in 1945 for commercial sales, kinda' makes you wonder who could have bought one of these and why would they...

Thanks for looking,
O

During my time when I was living in the states CZ75B always was my choice whenever I am out to the shooting range.. Too bad, can't buy one legally here in Indonesia..

I just picked up an M&P 40 yesterday. I'm interested in doing a little side by side with my glocks.

So, just for fun (and because my disease shows no signs of letting up) who makes the best stock 1911, and who makes the best "mainstream" custom 1911?

I currently have a Kimber Classic Stainless Target purchased new in approx 2001. I'm interested in the colt rail gun, but I would probably never use the rail. it's about time to buy a gun that isn't black.

Discuss

First gun I've ever purchased was a glock 23 and i loved it. But ever since I tried out a 1911 I was hooked and knew I had to have one. A year later and I've managed to collect 3 of them. Enjoy!

Well, I did a little research. It looks like I can only get a 5" Les or Ed 1911 in blue in CA. Much prefer Stainless (unless it is historically significant, or there is a compelling reason) so it looks like I won't be buying one of those for now.

I wish I had the funds for a 1911 right now... My little P238 will have to do for now, haha.

My new guy

Mike - You need a gun to be able to mold the leather right? I am looking to get a nice holster for my new 1911 but it is slightly different than a "normal" 1911 near the front of the slide. I do like your work!

For AR15 you can check out the black rifle thread on here.

For "best of the best" start with a Colt 6920 or 6940.

Personally I have a Rock River Arms and love it. There are a lot of good ARs out there. Some people even just build their own as it is cheaper in the long run.

I'm not sure if someone posted already, but it will take me a few hours to get through 80 pages of history.

I'm looking to buy a 22LR built on a 1911 frame. I know Sig has one but it is the same as GSG. The other option I found is the modern Colt, but that seems to be cheaply built per some other blogs. The old Colt Ace is what would be ideal.

Anybody have any recommendations? I was thinking of going to that place in Denver (American Guns show) to have one custom built. What would that run?

Buying a "cheaply built" colt (which most of the entry level ones are in the 1911 platform) and just paying to upgrade the "cheap" parts would probably still be cheaper than getting one custom made.

Hawkeye, it depends on what the modification is. Are you talking about a full light rail or something?

Kimber makes a fully made 1911 in 22LR. There are a few others out there as well. I'd just but a pre made gun because the timing is usually off in the conversions.

If you look at my picture, right near the muzzle the middle 3rd of the slide is just a little thicker than a "normal" 1911. Not much difference, but probably enough to make a wet mold off of a normal one not fit.
