That "burning" smell started to disappear around 1200-1500 miles. Every now and then, when I do a 50-100mph run, I'll smell it, but largely, it's gone...

I paid $1350 or 70 for the Exhaust and Grilles installed, combined since it was done before I picked up the car (Port Install so to speak). So, all in, would I do it again? Yeah, I like the rumble, it's nice and deep, and frankly, unless you go full cat back, which will yield decibels that I view unacceptable for all the highway driving i do, this is the next best thing. Once I add a downpipe, I think it'll sound pretty awesome and driveable for day to day...your biggest gains, IMO, are eliminating the cats...these stock pipes are damn efficient, the engineers squeezed out every bit of efficiency in developing them.

Is the soot on the chrome pipes annoying? I have the black Sport Line tips and am somewhat reluctant to go PE simply because of the aesthetics of a constantly sooty tip. Am I over exaggerating? Is the soot really that bad?

The tips are so thin on the M Performance Exhaust that you really don't have any of the "soot" problems associated with the thicker, rolled pipes that you get with the standard M Sport exhaust.

Yeah soot is minimal...it's laser etched and super thin, so hardly any deposits.
The Inside of the tips have them, but I have to bend down and be cleaning the //M logo to notice it... Still owe everyone a dyno...
