I would be more worried that you can get a '13 for invoice. Not even 1 year of sales and BMW is already selling their hottest cars at invoice. That sounds more like GM, Ford, Chrysler, and that worries me when I think about resale. Where's the pricing going to be 2-3 yrs from now? Seems like invoice is the new MSRP, at least in the US that is.

Warranty is based on in service date, not model year. So yes, they'll both include the same warranty duration. No matter how you slice it, when you fast forward 4 or 5 years out, there will be a delta in value. Mid-year introductions/short model years generally don't have an impact.

Bear in mind the 3 Series is BMW's entry level line. There's no reason NOT to expect dealers to discount the cars substantially. More importantly, remember that you're only point of reference with regard to selling prices is these online forums which are an infinitesimally small sampling of overall sales data. Folks on forums tend to be rather well educated and equipped to negotiate deep discounts.

The great majority of new BMW sales are actually leases. The great majority of buyers don't have a clue how leasing works and thus are likely paying significantly more than you might imagine (or they even understand).

Your average buyer of used BMWs doesn't peruse forums such as this one. I find it unlikely that 3, 4, or more years from now many buyers will know that 2012 was a short model year that launched in calendar year 2012, etc. Four years from now a prospective buyer will see 2012 and 2013 models available for sale, and will consider the 2013 three years old and the 2012 model four years old. They will be willing to pay more for the 2013.

I set my calendar for 2016 to check KBB I'm not saying there wont be a difference, just saying it may not be as significant as the usual 1 yr difference between models. No way to really know that far down the road, so this is all speculation.

not following the logic on this one. i've always experienced the higher end models discount more than the lower spec models. please give some examples.

Couldn't make a deal happen on the 2012 (no BMW holiday cash combined with no real urgency on behalf of the dealer to move it), so I picked up a 2013 328i Sport instead. Doesn't have the technology package that the '12 did, but I like the look/feel of the sport better anyway. Only drawback thus far is that mine was one of the unfortunate cars to have been built without the USB/Bluetooth. Sure, it lowered the cost of the car by $750, but it's definitely odd to have to hold a phone to my ear when talking on the phone. C'mon - it's 2012 already!

OMG.

I just pulled the trigger yesterday. I ordered my 2013 328i sedan yesterday and I need you guys input!! Please tell me if I got a good deal or not.

Here's my configuration:

M sport Package
Estoril Blue
Technology Package
Heated front seat

MSRP came up to 45,395. With the 1000 holiday cash, 1500 USAA incentive and 1000 college graduate incentive in consideration. My out the door price was 43,743.

What's weird is that on my buyers order sheet, it states below

Cash price of vehicle 42379
rebate -2000
processing fee 399
title__tax 2652.28
total cash delivered price 43743

So the salesperson told me they don't do the college graduate incentive. The 2000 rebate includes 1000 holiday cash and 1000 USAA(shouldn't USAA be 1500?). I thought it's a good enough deal so I agreed to order it.

I would greatly appreciate all your opinion on this. THANKS!!

First, USAA discount is only $1000 if you're using BMW FS for financing.

When you use USAA discount, they hide that in the "Cash Price of Vehicle" aka $42,379 in your case.

The Holiday Cash (and I assume college grad) is listed as "rebate" for $2000.

Dealers can be tricky like that. That's why you need to back into the price on your own, so you can make sure the final price they're charging you is what you expect.

If that's the case my negociated price would be 43,379(42,379 cash price of the vehicle + 1000 USAA), which is roughly about 4% off from the MSRP. I see people mentioned here being able to beat the price down to close to the invoice then have them apply the incentives and rebate on top of it. So my concern is that my actual negociated price would be 43,379, which is about 1700 above the invoice. Did I just get a bad deal?

I asked them and they said the 1000 college grad incentive was not applied. That's another thing I feel weird about too. Since the incentive is listed on bmwusa.com, shouldn't all dealerships be providing the incentives state on their main site?

I haven't read too much about the T/C of the college grad incentive, so I'm not sure. Likely it should come right off, just like other rebates.

$1700 over invoice (before applicable discounts) is not great. Tell 'em you want another $1000 off that final price, and should be pretty good.

There is for sure college grad discount. $1000 off, don't let your dealer try to manipulate your price. You'll save $20 a month or you can put in more options. Your out the door price before incentives seems very high. I would look around more

A fair deal is $500 over invoice. This means you'll have to pay the 180$ training and $400 MACO "fees" in addition though. (You'd have to negotiate really hard to not pay them).

Do the math for the financing bit. I got 1.59% for 60 mo financing through BofA and still got the $1,500 USAA rebate. This is a better deal than getting the $1,000 Holiday cash and $1,000 USAA rebate at a rate of 3.29%. This will be done when you actually purchase the car, don't get any of the "extras" when you are with the financing guy cuz it's all a rip off. And remember, the deposit is refundable always.

I'm not sure whether the college grad incentive is stackable. PM me if u got any questions, I did some hard nosed negotiating and contacted about 15 BMW dealerships in doing research.
