keeping sport auto in 2nd

From time to time when I drive the sport auto in my usual full manual mode, the auto stays in 2nd gear when i come to a complete stop. Yes, virtually always, it drops to 1st, but every so often it' ll remain in 2nd. Which begs the question, could there a trick to keep the tranny in 2nd when coming to a stop at say a red light or a slow rolling stop...

I pay close attention to this as well, but my F30 with Sport Auto always drops to 1st gear when I dip below 3 mph.

The loaner E90 Msport I currently have only drops down to 2nd gear at complete stops. It is a Sport Auto transmission as well. To ever get it back to 1st gear I have to shift it manually.

Noticed the same thing, occasionally it stays in second. Slow rolling stops might have something to do with it.

Not sure if it's different in sports with the sports auto tranny than others but..

I just push my shifter to the left and it shows the gear it's in rather than "D". Shows S then the gear next to it (e.g., S2, S5)

yes i have control issues and im ocd. smooth go pro if u like.

I dont like when the car shifts to, surprise, 1st gear and i hit the gas with 2nd gear vigor. especially if i dont need first at all at the time.

And no D doesnt show the gear sadly would be nice to undertand the tranny logic or lack there of.

Push the shift lever in to the left it will say M1-M8 that gives you full control in Sports mode, However the car will auto shift before hitting Redline to obviously protect the engine.
