328i M Sport vs. 135i M Sport

Hi,

I'm on the fence between the two cars. I would go for the 335i but my budget doesn't allow it.

I don't have any restrictions in terms of space. I like the fact that the F30 is a brand new model but the 4 banger kind of sounds like a diesel especially at idle. On the other side the N55 is an awesome engine but the 135i will probably be replaced in a year or so.
What do you reckon? Thanks!

Well ... get the car you want. I know that sounds dead obvious but there's a reason for that

Not buying a car because it might be replaced in a year or so ain't a good way to buy cars because you'll never buy a car unless it's brand new. Sounds to me like you're trying to get someone to talk you out of going for the less practical, more fun 135i and talk you into the more practical, less fun 328i. I'm not that person.

I reckon you want the 135i

It seems that you were gunning for the 335i, so just wait for the 235i which has at least the same power as the 335i and still falls in your budget..OR get a used 335i.

BTW, the 328i has a cracker of an engine and should not be overlooked just because of the noise at idle. It's not audible when you're inside (and not that bad from the outside too), which is all that matters

Drive both.

If I was younger and single I would go 135...my issue on the 1 is I always found the proportions to be awkward.

you could i suppose try to get a 2012 335i sport, they will probably be fairly cheap soon.

or uh just save up some more money.

I drove the 135 but not even one dealer in MA as a 328 M Sport. I only tried a 328ix which drove like an appliance somehow or maybe it is just me...I am your and single so maybe I should go with the 1.

I see you are from NJ. I hope everything is ok/better after Sandy.

I understand the concern about the 1 series being replaced down the road. the 328i sport is fun but its more of a mature car than the very entertaining 135i. if that's what you prefer and as long as you can get a good deal, I would go 135i.

135i for fun and 328i for less fun more luxery. I would go for the 135i for the extra speed and power.

Xi means base suspension. Driving a Sport will give you a 98% look into driving an M-Sport.

I don't WANT to live with a N20 unless there is a performance exhaust.

Plenty to choose from. I saw a 20ft lbs gain in tq to the wheels.

The 135i needs to be really fast so that we don't have to gaze on it for too long for obvious reasons.
