Can enhanced bluetooth be unlocked with coding or is it hardware?
If you were to order a 335i with enhanced bluetooth in Jan or Feb you'd get bluetooth audio etc as well as a iphone cradle. If you have a iphone 5, the cradle is useless.
So, if you were to save the money and not get enhanced bluetooth, can someone unlock it via coding? If not, can BOTH the enhanced bluetooth hardware and the iphone 5 cradle (June) be added after the fact? I am wondering if part of the deal at purchase could be for the dealership to order in and install a cradle when it is available as part of the purchase price....who wants to pay for something they can't use...ya know.... |

I think I read somewhere that its a hardware limitation. You need to get the enhanced bluetooth in order to get A2DP audio streaming. IMO its worth the money, especially if you have the heads up display, because your tracks show up on it.
like rjc3200 mentioned above, the cradle is extra $$ and not required. If you need to charge the iPhone, just buy the $20 lightning cable.

Oops! Sorry, I didn't realize that. My bad. For what it is worth, the cradle doesn't sound like a real killer accessory as the only features it appears to enable (as opposed to USB connection) are access to the exterior antenna, modified interface (which is better, but doesn't allow you to enable split screen, which is a bummer) and video streaming. I ordered a cradle for my iPhone 4s knowing that I'll upgrade next year to iPhone 5s, and plan on just leaving my old iPhone plugged into the cradle all the time.
