low beam replacement
I picked up some 5000k philips diamond vision bulbs and want to swap the low beams out... anyone changed them? I looked in the manual, pulled the appropriate covers off, but can't get the damn bulbs out! I'm afraid I'll break something, does it twist a certain way? Clips I have to remove?

which clip? it looks almost as if the bulb is held in place at 3 places- by the metal tabs about 1/3 of a circle apart from each other. that's weird/new because most H7s are held in by a metal clip/bracket that unclips and folds up I believe- see these pics from a VW housing http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100112. I'd wait for someone that knows to chime in on this, but my guess is that it pops out of those 3 tabs. someone to ask would be brandon@eas his car is currently up for lease assumption and he upgraded to an HID kit, so he would know how to get those suckers out. good luck!

Yea I thought the two bottom clips you could press and it would pop out somewhat then slide it out of the top clip as that looks like it doesn't move. The manual says to slide it in the top one first as well. I pushed on one of them and just bent it, felt no movement on the bulb.

hmm, maybe the bulb twists? to be honest, I don't know for sure on this one and don't want you to mess it up- i'd send brandon@eas a pm.

I had this same problem and after aquiring about 10 fresh cuts on my hands trying to get the stupid thing out I finally went to my tool box looking for anything to do the job. What I found was the bulb's spade connectors have holes in them so I used my hook tool to lock into the hole and pull the lamp straight out. Worked like a champ!!

I can tell you this wont work. I bent the connectors trying to do it as the manual states. The hook was 100% One way to see how the low beam is installed is to pull the high beam from the top opening. Same lamp and same mounting except you can easily reach it to get it out of the housing. Once you do this you will understand how you can pull it straight out as I mentioned earlier. There are no clips to undo an you cant twist it because its seated with the tab locking it's ability to rotate.
