N20 Problem?
Hi all,
I just got my 328i (sport line) 3 days ago and absolutely love it; but today I noticed something. When I slowly rev the engine to approx. 3000 rpm while at a stop, I noticed that the car shakes a little bit (probably for 0.1 of a second) and at the same time the revs drop down to approximately 2800 rpm. It only did it this morning. When I tried it again this afternoon, it was normal again. It almost felt like the engine (either the variable valve timing or the twin scroll turbo) is trying to make an adjustment for the increase in revs, but I just want to make sure this is normal. Can anyone please try this and let me know if you are experiencing the same thing? Thanks in advance. Last edited by weixp386; 08-10-2012 at 11:58 AM. |

The engine will respond differently when not under load remember. Not experienced this but I've not looked for it to be honest!

Wouldn't worry about it guys! Unless it does it under load (whilst driving), I'd forget about it.

Oh really? Now that's interesting!
Well, I and many others will tell you that revving the engine high without load is bad for it. So beyond 3k is not good for it. Which components suffer? I don't know, and it seems many others don't know either! Perhaps that's why they put a limiter in.
