Agreed.. Even more important with Opti-Coat, as the only way to remove it after would be to compound it off..

For anyone who doesn't know the reason behind this:


1. Why put a final protection layer on a car when the imperfections haven't been removed/reduced?

2. The result (protection, gloss, appearance, depth of paintwork, etc) will NOT be very good if the first 2 steps are not followed. I can guarantee this.

Spot on. I can understand the frustration anyone would encounter on ANY new car (whether it be a new corolla or new rolls royce) if it had those blemishes.

I can understand that these things happen, but DEALER DELIVERY should compensate this (ie, repair).

I enjoy washing my car by hand, however once it's cured properly you could torture it with an automatic wash.

Car needs to be cleaned and decontaminated first, then coating is applied. Depending on how clean the car is(n't) and the number the coats applied you're looking at a few hours of work.

It's quite labour intensive compared to other paint protection treatments but after seeing how good his Renault RS250 looks I reckon it's well worth it.

While you could in theory at least drive away after an hour of so of it being applied, I'm letting my car cure overnight. I'll go back in a weeks time for a wax coating as well.

Very important you don't touch the paint for the first couple of days as it can still be a little tacky and you'll risk "fingerprinting" it. Don't wash it either for one week.

I was told it takes about a week or two to fully cure, at which time it really brings out a beautiful depth of colour to the factory paint. My detailer was quite complimentary of Mineral White too

congrats! You'll love the ease of maintenance. Btw, don't bother with the wax, as it will literally last two days on Opti-Coat. One of it's characteristics is how well it sheds dirt, contaminents, etc - including wax.

Gloss and shine are fantastic, I'm very happy with the treatment. I'm resisting rubbing my knuckle along for feel until it cures some more, but having felt an already cured treatment its silky smooth.

3 coats have been applied in this case.

You can, it's just thicker. It's not a magnet!

I wouldn't take any car to or through a car wash. You will degrade any coating on the car (including clear coat).

Always hand wash with 2 bucket method. Takes longer, but well worth protecting your pride & joy.
