I have to wonder what the point of all this recent product proliferation is. Seems like BMW is trying to produce a product for EVERY LAST NICHE of the market. At what point are they simply cannibalizing sales of their own product? I mean, it seems like the mostly likely buyer for the GTs (
) would be somebody who doesn't want the Touring rather than somebody cross-shopping from another brand. : |

You guys in Europe have a whole different level of motorsporting.
As evidenced @ 2:57, someone woke up one day and said "Honey, see ya, today I will track my X5". I love it. |

I thought I read somewhere that the 5 series GT was pretty much a sales flop here in the US? ![]()

What an awesome video! The driver really pushed the car to the limit!!!
He nearly lost it a few times but overall a great job. The X5 really made me laugh!

Whats the point of having a GT and a wagon?I can understand the availability of 5gt in NA as we don't have the wagon[though that was not the intended purpose of BMW]
Personally I like the 5GT. Its a different breed of automobile keeping practicality and luxury in mind.the second row seating is awesome unlike the SUV's[including X5] where seating in the second row is like sitting on a toilet. |

On Touristenfahrten anything is posible. Come to think of it, my dad told me, in the late 60s or so when I wasn't even born, my parents went to the Eifel, the beautiful aera the Ring is situated, for a small vacation. By car. So my dad did a lap at the Ring. Just sightseeing and stuff. Weapon of choice: Volkswagen Beetle with less than 40BHP LOL. Cheers Robin |

in the shadows..

If u look at a few of the rear photos, u can see how wildly the (blow-mold-injection) panels distort the actual body underneath.
This car might be a real shocker..! (?) Secondly, those who want a more utilitarian 3 series, but does not want a family wagon.. Or, cannot find enough performance in an X1... is who this is aimed @... What does it weigh..? Does it come in a manual..? What engine..? AWD..? etc..
