M aerodynamic kit will be available as a retrofit, just need to wait. No need to change exhaust as there's specific valance for all F30 models.

Just ordered a '13 335i M-Sport. Had the same canumdrum (sp?). The dealer was able to add it for $350 as a port-installed option vs having to but the $1k pkg like you had mentioned. Just ask and they should be able to do it for you

RPM90, thanks for your detailed reply. The car I drove was a Sportline with 8-spd auto. Not sure whether it had all-seasons but suspect it might have had. (On my E90 I have staggered RE050A II RFTs which I swap for Bridgestone Blizzak LM22 RFTs for winter).

The 8-spd auto is much better than the old GM 6-spd in the E90 -- with daily loaners I've found that that transmission stumbled and hunted from a stand still in a way that a Chevy Malibu would never do. The F30 8-spd on the 328i felt better, but nowhere near as satisfying as the E90 335d with the 6-spd ZF auto, by far the best application of an auto in a US market 3 series I've driven and much more satisfying than the E90 335i. A really satisfactory application of an auto transmission depends on one thing above all else: bucket-loads of bottom end tubthumping torque (e.g, Chevy small block).

I'm attracted to the variable shock settings on the M-Adaptive suspension, but am wary of the variable ratio steering that comes with it. I am not sure whether the 2012 F30 I drove had it. The variable ratio steering that I drove on a tester when I bought my E90 in 2006 was horrible compared to the standard setup -- unnatural feeling and with no advantages -- in fact the car enthusiast salesman helping me at that time advised me to stay well away from it.

I am glad to see that HIDs are now a standalone package for 2013, but why do I now have to purchase thousands of dollars worth of junk to get sat radio, now standard equipment on a lowly Chevy? BMW needs to hear loud and clear that their pricing strategy reeks of cynicism and lack of respect for the customer. Out of interest I took a look at the 5-series pricing, where they are now forcing an interior upgrade on anyone who wants the sport package. This is a new approach at BMW, the last refuge of the sacred standalone option list, and is not to be welcomed. Let's all raise our collective voices in the hope that BMW will revert to the full options list pricing they promised would accompany the new "lines".

Excellent news! Must be one of the vey first F30 330Ds in the world, no? I didn't think they were due until September

Oh, and is that the M Sport brakes you ordered? I thought the blue calipers were the M Sport brakes but I also though they came with drilled and slotted discs

The M Sport Braking System 2NH @ 570.00, as ordered with a new vehicle, are not drilled and slotted.

Wow. Glad I didn't order them then! 570 for painted calipers is a bit lame

I have been led to believe that the fronts are 4-pot and the discs larger in diameter all round. This can be seen in the BMW UK website in a 'build-your-own' comparison.
Should look quite nice in the std 5 spoke 18" alloys.
Least I hope so cos' it's what I have ordered!

O I C. They just looked pretty small so I assumed standard size. The discs on my MPS are much bigger so I guess that's my reference point but then it does weigh as much as a small tank! And I take it from that the standard front brakes aren't 4-pot?

The fronts are 370mm & rears 345mm. U get more than painted calipers, esp for cars such as 320d where the standard brakes are 300mm all-round w/sliding calipers.

What size and spec are the standard brakes on the 330D M Sport? I might need to be ammending my order if the standard car comes with crappy brakes

The M-Sport Braking System 2NH is excellent value at 570. I doubt if Mazda could offer at this price for an equivalent 320D type.
The MPS is surposed to be a performance vehicle. The 320D is not rated as such.
For drilled & slotted it would be the M-Performance Brakes which are about 1200 + fitting from BMW Main Dealers.
In any case who wants to compare Mazda with BMW? Its chalk & cheese! A different world!
PS No BMW has crappy brakes, they are all good.

I hear ya.

I replaced all the discs and pads on my MPS with drilled and slotted Brembo discs and Yellowstuff pads ...was the first mod I did to the car a couple of years ago. Good brakes are really important to me and the only reason I didn't order the 2NH upgrade for my 330D was because they looked identical except for painted calipers with an M badge

I've just checked on RealOEM.com and found out that the 330D comes with 330x24 and 300x24 as opposed to 370x30 and 345x24 with the M Sport brakes so that's the same brakes as the 335i?

I quite agree that good brakes are important and it is sure nice to think that one has the best available fitted to your motor.
Checking out the BMW UK 'build your own', the M Sport Braking System appears to have larger diameter discs than the std 'as fitted' to the 335i.
But I quess this cannot be so, if you say that the M Sport brakes are only 370x30 & 345x24. I am sure that the 335i are larger than this.
I am sure that there is someone out there who knows!
