I'm in the same boat and have been trying to see what options there are - worst case, I'll live with it or go the USB drive route. But how about something like this?

I've exchanged a few e-mails with Patryk from Bimmertech to just figure out if it's possible to retrofit the enhanced USB functionality. It looks like it can be done in theory by adding the Combox. I'll revisit this when I actually get my car here. But sounds like there may be hope.

My F30 did not come with a y-cable. I bought one on eBay.

Bmw Assist is the catalyst to make the white iphone cable work. Period. If you have Assist, it works. If you dont, you need Y cable.

Correct. But I believe that functionality comes from the addition of the combox module.

Hey PrazVT, did your car arrive stateside yet? Its supposed to have the Y-Cable inserted at the US delivery center, just before it gets shipped to your dealer. They were a little confused about Euro Delivery cars though, is almost like they hadn't thought it through.

"...well, most cars get the Y-Cable put into the manual bag at the delivery center...but with Euro Delivery cars you take the manuals with you in Europe...so.....we're not sure what happens there..."

Nah, it's supposed to reach the States around August 2nd. I hope you are right about them including the iPod cable once it gets here - makes sense I guess. I picked up the car literally across the street from where it was built so I can see how they would omit that in Munich. I didnt see anyone futzing with ipod cables during the plant tour lol. I'll let you guys know, though, when it gets here.
