Ship Tracking Gone Wrong
Maybe this is a lesson for me not to be so obsessed with tracking and just let it happen....BUT...
Time for some frustration. So my car was supposedly on the Brilliant Ace bound for Port Hueneme, arrival 1 June. I thought it weird from day 1 that every time I tried to click on the voyage number it said "voyage does not exist." Anyway, I successfully tracked the ship to Baltimore, then to Brunswick GA. So far, so good, right? Well this evening I arrive home, happy to see the ship underway once again, but am surprised to see the ship heading out of Brunswick due East. I look at the destination on the pop-up ship info, and it says it is bound for Cartagena Spain. WTF????? Don't think it will arrive on the West coast in less than 2 weeks if it's crossing the Atlantic again. So I'm throwing this out there - Has anyone experienced this? Would they change ships? Would the car be left in, say, Baltimore to be picked up by another ship?? I am perplexed and wondering if this is just a tracker mistake. ![]() |

I don't think it happens often but I can imagine that there are certain logistical issues that arise from time to time that makes a shipper decide to unload all cars at a certain point and load them onto another ship after.
One thing that comes to mind is that they always try to get as much shipped with the same ship as possible, this to reduce the cost of shipping in total. Now, it is possible that there were less cars that had to move on after Brunswick to Hueneme and that there's a smaller ship picking the remainder of the cars up for transport to Port Hueneme. Of course, it could also be the other way around, that they had too many stuff to be shipped to PH and that they needed a bigger ship. I'm just saying, there's a lot of reasons why this could happen. It's probably not something you see everyday but, from time to time, I can see it happen ![]() Hang in there, though. Give your CA a call and see if he has any updated information. He will be able to see more than we do ![]()

Thanks svache. I called my CA and he said he would check tomorrow. He told me that when a car is expected around the 1st of the month they usually come a few days earlier so they can try to have it arrive before the 1st (he didn't say why). Guess we'll see! I'm just worried that, you know, my luck and all, something strange and unusual will happen to mine and it will end up in Antarctica or something.

Don't worry, it's not gonna end up in Antarctica; that's for sure! Just be patient and hope for the best. It's only a matter of days before you meet your new best friend!!! ![]()

I just checked the Port Hueneme calendar and it still shows the Brilliant Ace arriving on June 1st carrying BMW's.
http://www.portofhueneme.org/documen...l_schedule.pdf The last tracking I can find on fleetmon shows your ship heading east, but it may just be getting around Cuba to get to the canal. You probably won't be able to track the ship until it gets close to the PC like mine did this Monday & Tuesday. Talking about being obsessed, I even got web-cam pictures of my ship going through the locks! The popup for your ship doesn't show a destination anymore on fleetmon. My order is aboard the Asian Vision, due in on June 2. Here's hoping you're all processed quickly through the VPC so that you get your rides quickly (and you don't hold up MY car getting processed!)

Wow, two ships in two days full of BMW's. I wonder how fast they can process cars and get them on trucks...

I believe Asian Vision is moving on to Seattle/Tacoma so they won't unload the entire boat. Still..... |

Just the kind of thing that I probably just shouldn't see lol. Guess the ship was waiting for a spot to open up in the port. Never realized that ships got put in holding patterns too...

Well, at least your ship is in Columbia and not Spain like you first thought!
There will probably be waiting in the canal too. My ship took more than 24 hours to transit the canal. It had to wait overnight in Lake Gatun after going through the first set of locks. After the Miraflores locks, it should be smooth sailing to California. Happy tracking! |

It looks like you are headed to Santa Marta now. I hope there are not to many more stops along the way!
