i wonder if bmw is randomly assigning tires to cars because there isn't an option during the ordering phase to spec out whether you'd like all seasons or summers. |

I dropped off the car this afternoon. One last dinner in Munich, train to Frankfurt and flight home in the morning. No internet tonight, but I will try to post another set of pictures from the lounge before I depart.
Saw a silver F30 Sport and Mineral Gray F30 modern. Looked like they would go out on today's truck which got there just as I did. Hope mine makes it on Tuseday's truck. |

Is that imperial blue? If so, you've got me thinking, I may go with that color with black interior, aluminum dash. |

If you had an E46 or newer, how does it compare? I believe I read that the shift throws are shorter. How about the clutch, and feel? Is there still the typical BMW dead clutch travel before the friction point? |

BMW has never done this, unless all seasons were ordered by option. Tire rack shows OEM tires on 18" sport lines as Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT (Max Perf. summer tire) or Pirelli Centuarto P7 RFT (Ultra High Perf. summer). They don't show all seasons as OEM for sport line. Optional 19's show "summer only" tires as well. Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT Conti ContiSportContact5 SSR Pirelli PZero RFT Luxury line shows 18's in Bridgestone 'max perf' summer and Pirelli Centauro 'high perf all season'. 19's show the same tires as the optional 19's in the sport line. Modern line shows the same tires as Luxury line. It looks like only Modern and Luxury standard 18's have an all season that might get put on. If you option 19's in any line, then no all seasons. Sport line doesn't show any all seasons in 18" or 19". |

I have an E46 5MT (MY02) and I did notice the throws are shorter, but clutch feel is essentially the same, I had no problem with the F30 and I remember it taking a bit to get adjusted to the E46. I also did find it hard to get a smooth and fast 1-2 shift. Does the E46 have the CDV? |

this photo has been corrected for brightness and contrast...
with the original photos, you the colors are washed out... (due to camera original settings)

I thought I would update this post as my post-dropoff time is approaching its end.
I am finally scheduled for PCD re-delivery this Friday ![]() Instead of car pictures, I am posting some images from my trip. First is a 2-shot panorama I took on the first evening where I stayed at Gathaus Gregory in Schönau am Königsee, between Bertesgaden & Konigsee. What I only realized after returning home and looking at the terrain view in Google maps is that I was looking at the Eagles Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) form the reverse side. I went to the Documentation Center the next day but did not do the tour or even see it as it was rainy & overcast. |

Next up is a panorama I took of Zugspitze and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
This is taken from Wank mountain, just North-East of GP. Zugspitze is the tall peak on the right and Eibsee is on the far right about halfway up, both about 8 miles from where I was. The Olympic Ski Jump is near the bottom middle of the frame |
