After just 1 month, a problem already...

Started her up today and got an idrive warning that said I had a "Drivetrain malfunction -- drive moderately and see your service center immediately." It then put me in slow mode

Gonna bring her in to the dealership in a bit here. Anyone else had this problem?

These type of errors are often just a once off sensor problem and go away if you switch off the car and then restart.

If it comes again then you should have it checked out

Just heard from the dealership. They said they have to submit something to BMW HQ about this and I won't hear back until Tuesday (3 days from now). Luckily I got a loaner car. I asked if that meant they couldn't find anything wrong and they said "no, it means we know something is wrong but we're not sure how to fix it yet."

Blast it. Sure hope this isn't a sign of things to come... (wondering if getting rev model year was a good idea)

Best of luck. I really hope its nothing big, and not a sign of more trouble down the road.

Don't worry; they will fix it and all will be well.

Is the loaner amusing?

Well, since it's a 2011 328i it's interesting to compare to the F30. Bottom line: F30 beats the s**t out of this car. The e90's interior feels downright ghetto.

Just heard from the dealer today. They said the part they need to replace on the drivetrain is on backorder and they won't get it in for another week.

What the hell?

You just bought an F30! This is no cheap car, we're talking 50-60-70G's...that's a lot of money! How can they give you a 2011 loaner while they fix your problem?

That sucks man! Tell them to at least get u an F30 loaner until you get ur car back...

Anyway, lesson learnt! Next time, don't get the first year model. Wait till they fix all the bugs..

I wish you good lock and hopefully they'll fix ur problem ASAP!

True, but having the first and best 3 series is a pretty special feeling.

I had a wiper problem, on my 2-3 weeks F30 3.20i. I took the car to service, they said they need to change the whole control unit. Back order would last for two weeks, awaiting now, and cannot use wiper. :-(

Loaner was an E90, same feelings with bl@ster on that. I would hit my head on the wall if I had accidentally bought that E90 and then see F30 later. =)

Err, no, I strongly disagree! There shouldn't be any F30's "wasted" as loaners until the backlog of those of us who have ordered at/near launch (especially us who have paid a deposit) have received our F30s! This is especially if there are still tight allocations/shortage of N20 engines (as was mentioned in another thread). Loaners should be from readily available cars.

They should hand out a F10 as a loaner instead, it might even make some people want to upgrade

Sorry to hear about this...what a mess! At least you've got the loaner and they've identified the part. This is a good example why I wait until the 2nd Model Year
