Knurled wheel on steering wheel - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32)

On my 125i there are up and down arrows on the steering wheel which can be used to select the next track on iPod (or CD).

These are arrows are not on the 328i (which I have on order). Does the knurled wheel perform that function instead? I have looked at the manual and it seems to suggest that the knurled wheel can do that, but only if if the extended instrument cluster option is installed.

I have ordered professional nav (which I think means I get the extended instrument cluster).

Does the above sound right?

yes, I believe you are correct. I have the knurled wheel and it allows me to scroll up to previous song, down to next song etc. on the HUD. It also allows me to scroll through my sat. radio channels.

That's how it works on mine. I can use the scroll wheel to browse songs on the HUD and then you press it down to select the song. It only scolls between songs in the current playlist though, you can't use it to select a different playlist.

It must because when I took delivery the salesguy was demonstrating the scrolling but was surprised that it didn't show up on the panel until he realized that I had the HUD.

I misunderstood the question. my radio and phone selections show up on my instrument or info panel when my HUD is off. not sure if this is available on the non-technology package cars. I would think it is, but you can't assume anything.
