I ordered 328i with no line.
I upgraded the 17's to mixed 17s that look better IMO and added a few options that i wanted with the money saved. Also, here, the 328 has a NCO for the brushed aluminum with high glosss black trim. |

I have a base. Price was really the biggest factor. I didn't really feel like paying for things that were cosmetic only. The tire difference is something to consider however mostly from a cosmetic point of view. Now that the 18s are running 245 (increased lip) the ride is smoother than previous versions. The performance difference will otherwise only be noticed on the track or extremely aggressive driving which I tend to avoid.
Thus overall, for most driving there is no difference between the base and lux/mod lines. Sport is obviously different suspension. For my next one, will likely make a few upgrades such as 335, xenons, and adaptive susp, however still not sure about line and may just stick with base |

Just received my 2013 no-line here. Ordered through military sales.
Mineral grey with leatherette black interior - added xenon, heated seats, and burl wood trim. Price was determining factor as well how long I plan on keeping the car, age of my kids, and proximity to retirement! My first BMW so I do not really have anything to compare with and am happy with the results. |

I don't know how it is in the States, but here in Europe the "lines" are only cheap cosmetics with a steep price.
Luxury, Sport and Modern Line: +1,900€ M sport Package: +4,100€ Instead of paying for cheap chromed plastic ornaments, it's better to take no-line and add: -adaptive suspension 1.100€ -M sport wheel 210€ -Xenon 980€ -Sport seats 630€ Automatic is a must; 2.260€. The service can change that silver trim into whatever you want; or you can (at least here) buy the aluminium version. |

I went in for the base model 335i model.
Sports model was out due to the interior colors being black or gray and since I could not tolerate the sports seats. I could not justify spending $1400 extra for the luxury or the modern line for what appeared to be just gimmicky cosmetic stuff. In fact all that chrome seemed to take away from the looks. However, keep in mind that the base model steering wheel is the worst steering wheel you would have ever experienced. It is extremely thin. You can get a thicker steering wheel by going in for the modern, luxury or the sports line. And an even thicker wheel by going in for the M-Sports line. I spoke to my BMW service dept here and they said they can retrofit the luxury line steering wheel into my base model for $1000 installed + tax. So much for trying to save money on the lines..... |

I've seen many people refer to the "no-lines" model as the "base" model. I think the latter term is not very accurate since you can end up with an oxymoron - "a fully loaded base model". A more accurate term would be "a fully loaded no-lines model" !! |

I got no line tech, premium, xenon, alarm and hk options. Hindsight only regret not being waiting 3-4 more months to order the m-sport for the front bumper. I could care less about the sport.

The lateral bolster support at the thighs pinched too much. Unless I am wrong only the side supports at the backrest can be adjusted (not on the seat)
