Sunglasses with HUD

Looking for suggestions for non-polarized sunglasses that will allow use of the HUD. I've looked at Serengetis but haven't seen mention of other options (that are a bit less $$$).

My Ray-Ban's are polarized and while the HUD is more vaguely displayed when wearing them, the picture is still clear enough to actually see what is displayed. Thankfully they didn't completely fade the image of the HUD out.

Slightly OT but are you sure they have adequate UV protection? You probably know this but you can seriously damage your eyes if your sunglasses don't block UV well enough and there's a high risk of this with fake sunglasses.

Mosley Tribes! Have a non-polarized pair for my 135i (soon to be F30).

I just slightly tilt my head sideways with polarized lenses to see the image. I guess inconvenient and awkward, but it works! Haha

Humm...on most newer jets (like 737's, Gulfstreams, etc) with HUDs far more detailed than ours they've figured out how to overcome this....I'll call some buddies and post my findings.

I went to the Ray Ban website and just ordered a pair of my same glasses just not polarized. They are surprisingly awesome and the glare is still minimal. I found most higher end stores carry almost all polarized but pretty much every style can be ordered online without.

Good luck.

I found simply turning up the brightness to full for the HUD makes it quite useable while wearing my polarized sunglasses.

This. I noticed a while ago that I do it subconsciously when I want to know the speed. Somehow tilting my head is more natural than actually looking down at the speedometer.

I'll have to experiment with it when I get my car. I wear Maui Jim's, and I thought the HUD was very difficult to see with my glasses on.

Just "lean your head like a gangsta" and you'll be fine!

Ended up getting a pair of Serengeti Dante Espresso for $150 (Amazon). They definitely do the job, adjust to brightness and actually make the HUD 'pop' in daylight.

I have 2 pairs of Maui Jim's (polarized) and during the day at full HUD brightness it is often difficult to see the radio channels in the HUD (btw, I love this feature). After turning my head certain angles to see the HUD data during the day I couldn't take it anymore. So I bought a pair of Spy+ non-polarized sunglasses and now I can see the full HUD perfectly!! Best $75 I spent in a long time!

I bought some Oakley Crankcases that were non-polarized. Oakley is good if you prefer a sporty style to your glasses.

Argh, it's a shame they couldn't figure out a way to display the HUD with polarized lenses. I wear MJs, and don't think it's worth downgrading sunglasses to gain better clarity with the HUD.

polarized glasses are worth it... now blast that night at the Roxbury and watch as the numbers show up and disappear!

Got in my car for the first time after getting a new pair of sunglasses (polarized) and thought my radio display was broken. Started jabbing my finger at it and figuring out when I'd be able to take it in for service. The screen was either dim or completely invisible.

Yeah...wasn't until I got home and took off my sunglasses that I realized what the hell was going on.
