i have no problems syncing my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1) with my F30. i can see my phonebook contacts in the telephone submenu and i can also see my phonebook in the contacts section of the main menu.

BUT when i press the phone button on my steering wheel in the HUD it says "No Entries"? i expected to be able to scroll through all of my contacts and place a call by using the steering wheel controls and the HUD. where is the HUD looking for my phonebook contacts?

I'm guessing it looks under 'office' for stored contacts on the car... dunno why but somehow it seems to me that it's two different systems. I could be wrong though but that's the case with me.. haven't figured it out yet how to show my contacts in the car's 'office' contact list without putting them in manually.

I *think* you can, I haven't tried it out but it did look like it. Reason I didn't try it out is because my wife might also drive my car from time to time and I don't feel much in having the numbers of my gf's shared with her nah, jk of course, I just haven't tried it out =)

I don't think that is part of the system if memory serves me correctly. I think it will state an incoming callers name but that is all. It should appear in LCD cluster. The idea for the HUD is to show important info as required- It also is meant to be visual, the voice command is meant for operating the phone book entering destinations etc along with the central screen- the HUD is not a replacement for that.

From the manual:

thx for the info. weird that it says No Entries, and it appears it wants to allow me to scroll through my PhoneBook as i do with my Radio Presets and Sirius channels? not sure if that list is complete that you provided, regular cruise control information with a green icon is also in the HUD.

ahhhh, I did not have any recent call entries -- hence No Entries.

I think it does that and incoming call- I don't have it right now and I guess my notes weren't as good as they could've been!
