I love Top Gear and the praise they give BMW but find it odd as much as they love this manufacturer, none of them actually own one.

Hope you guys read his article link on that Yahoo page, I had a good laugh when all he could fault was the red line from the sport trim :-p

Aahh, Hamster has always been a biased BMW fan.
I think the new 3 series is very nice just like the 5 series but the steering is a deal breaker for true drivers (unless you may extra for M5 which still has hydraulic steering and probably the new M3 too). I saw the 3 series in person and I was not impressed by uneven gaps on the dash board (see attached picture) and around door trim. Also, the reliability of turbo remains to be seen (already had HPFP issue on my F10/535/N55 and then weird electrical failure within the past 8 months of ownership). |

For everyone that hates the steering (even with Sport mode enabled) I think they'll feel better once the new generation A4, C-Class and heck even the ATS comes out. Then we can determine whether or not BMW did/did not do the right thing or if they could've done it better. |

He kept saying the cars last, they will be there 20-30 years down the road. Sure they will, if you want to spend an arm and a leg outside of the warranty keeping them going. |

I can safely say, I will NEVER buy the first year in a chassis's line EVER again.
I may have to look into one of these when the LCI versions come out. TBH, I would be more impressed if Jeremy was the one making that bold of a statement about the F30. He's the toughest critic in most cases. And lastly, for how much they want for the bloody things, I would hope to hell they last long and are all they're made out to be. These are leaps and bounds more expensive than when the E9X's came out originally. |

Of course. .these are no Hyundai or Toyota and you DO need to have deep pockets to keep nice cars running for a long time.

The F30 isn't that much more expensive than the E90 when it was first released in 2005 (2006 model year). IIRC, the E90 325i (base) was around $31,000 (US figures). The F30 328i MSRP starts at $34,900 but you consider how much more standard equipment you get, it's not that much more.
