In the UK, the extended cluster comes as standard with the premium tech pack or as an optional extra in its own right. About £150 I think.

I really don't see the point of having two different types of instrument cluster though, I mean seriously BMW, what's the benefit!?

Just picked up my 328 (pics coming soon). I did in fact get the extended instrument cluster (even though no tech package). My CA thinks it is because my car has premium package. They had another sport line on the showroom floor w/o premium or tech package, and it had the standard cluster.

Thanks for another confirmation. It must be the premium package including the extended instrument cluster. I am wishing this is the case. I will be so happy!
