hows does the idrive controller used for cars without navi compare to the original idrive controller?

I dealt with that on my e90's, it's no fun to turn, turn, turn, turn the dial to find the artist you want to play, ugh. Glad that will be over...

sorry for not being clear enough. i was referring to the new idrive controller in the f30 that you get if yu dont order the navigation option. it looks different compared to the one you get with navigation so i was just wondering how it compared.
