lol the cost of $200-$225 is just about $120-$140 for gas (this is currently about $200-$220 due to worse fuel efficiency) per month and about $85 per month for insurance. The car will be paid in full on delivery so no cost there

I actually expect the insurance to be less but I calculated my current one. But, I did forget to include my yearly registration, about 450 per year for my current car, dunno what the next will be but seeing it is weight based, it should be less

Haha well, I have to whether I like it or not.. I need to have my name on the title for 6 months if my wife and I indeed decide to move to Europe.. If I don't, it's going to cost me a couple of ten thousand dollars in taxes and import costs :S (and then I might as well have bought one there as the difference would be nothing anymore lol).

But yeah, I have to say, it does give a good feeling knowing that I don't get any monthly costs for a couple of years for financing/leasing

As another data point I have had 3 3 series BMWs. Each one bought as a CPO with about 30,000 miles and sold when the warranty expired at around 98,000 miles. I drive a lot and put a lot of miles on the car so I wanted to always make sure it was under warranty. For me it is a comfort since I never had a major warranty issue (unlike a Merc E Class that was in the shop every month I owned it). In any event my only cost has been tires, brakes, and oil changes. Also by buying CPO, the cost of depreciation has always been minimal (about $6,000 per year and that is with putting 30,000 miles a year on the car)

Interesting - since I intend on eventually keeping an F30 from new and running it into the ground over 20 years, I'm curious - what prompted you to sell the cars at 98,000 miles? Did you just fancy something else, or is the risk of breakdown just unacceptable to you? From what I understand of what these cars are capable of they probably had at least another 100k miles of life on them, possibly 200k miles. Sure, repair costs would have started to bite, but I doubt it'd have cost more than the $6k /year depreciation.

1. Repair costs? None. But i don't keep any car past warranty. Not b.c I'm worried about the car. More b.c i get bored easily.

2. The most i had to shell out? $1000 on tires. Don't get rtf.'s imho. Ride is worse than normal tires and way more expensive.

3. Everything is covered that you don't cause.

4. Barely. had stupid issues on my 03 325i (wiper motor, window regulators; etc). Took about 3 days. Had a 528xi loaner the whole time.

We called BMW USA, told them all 4 windows broke (2 on the same time) and sent us a check for the parts.
