By trying to squash and fit and modernize some of the features and design cues of the 5 and 6 series, the proportions and stance are all changed and thus the 3 just looks sloppy and haphazard. The cutaway headlights, while distinct, are otherwise a disaster, looking like a cross of the previous 6-series and a rejected Tron Legacy model, and the chintzy bottom bumper on all but the m-sport line simply looks like it will break off at any moment.
However, will reserve all final judgement until one is seen live. And of course, hope upon hope that the new coupe comes out well
Are you kidding me? The 6 series exterior is butt-ugly. Even the previous 6er was not a good looking car.

"Genf" is the german version of "Geneva", so it may be this.

I have been a huge fan of the new front end since the first time I saw it, but I have to admit that it looks strange to me on that white car. Looks good on the red one. Looks good on all the darker colors I've seen: mineral grey (which I have on order), black, Havana, etc. but just doesn't look quite right on the white. I dunno...

I'm with you, 90% of my BMW's over the decades have been alpine but on this car you see way too many lines and concours. On any M3 with nice wheels I marvel but not this pup. Think I'm changing my order from mineral white to a dark color.

You are right on the money. The hood line and other front characteristics do not look good in the white pictures. I think black may be the best color for 2012. Almost everyone is going to order mineral grey or melbourne red.

I mean it's okay and all but wishing BMW would stop with the 3 size increase it's like if i wanted something the size of a 5 I would buy a 5. Wonder if the 1 will be the new 3?? If so i'm getting a 1 not everybody needs Texas large.

It's Geneva. I googled it and it seems to be some sort of German short form for Geneva.

Thanks all.

Interesting you say that... I have mineral grey on order, but still have about 3 weeks before production and I keep toying with the idea of switching to black metallic. It's just so hard to keep black looking clean.
