These are probably more-so for On the Lot inventory. That would be my guess.
The original post gave the impression that you can really order whatever you want, but these are line-specific options. The question becomes then, what does a standard 3 series not denoted within one of the "lines" look like regarding bumpers, accents, etc. The shame is I love the contrast of the SPORT, but the interior looks cheap because of that red line going down it. Looks like we'll have more waiting to see. |

Seems overcomplicated to me with a ridiculous amount of tackiness with the badges and door sill names (BMW Sport vs Luxury vs Modern).
My fav rims are the ones on the red 328i sedan in another thread, which is not shown here. |

As for the side badges, yes they're tacky but why all the fuss? It's not like you're paying any extra to put them on. Just remove them like you do with the model badge at the back. (If you can't remove them, then yeah, that sucks and looks stupid!) |

Has it been confirmed that these "lines" will make their way to the US market? Seems like something we wouldnt see here. Also seems unnecessarily complicated.

i don't like the idea how they split up the series in sport, luxury, and modern. I find that really stupid and they also copied BENZ with their styling in C class line up. Theres no need for 3 lines in the 3 series. Thats why they have packages & options SMH

For the most part, isn't that what it basically is? BMW just decided to cheese/douche it up a bit by calling them lines. If everything is as straightforward as I think it and everyone hope it is and it's BMW just complicating things, I see a standard 3-Series that has a Sport, Modern and Luxury "package".

My understanding is the Sport, Modern and Luxury lines (or packages, if you would) is the same approach as the atcama yellow package or the canyon brown package already on offer in the E89, but a little more comprehensive. By selecting those packages, you will get a pre-determined combo of trim/colors. ou can lay on the other options on top of that but certain option packages will not be compatible In the E89, there are also M-Sport combo packages.

This is really pathetic. As I thought, the differences between these lines are cosmetic and exist purely for marketing purposes.
I kinda get why there is a luxury model because it has the chrome bits and some people like that BS. Kinda like the C-class sport model and the classic MB grille version. However, I think it's still tacky and why do we need a sport line if there is a M-sport? and wtf is "modern"? I think overall its a crap idea and they should have kept it the way it was before. Let people spec their car how they want it. Give them more options if you want, like the different colours for the dash and steering wheels and M-sport package, but get rid of these stupid lines!

ill take the sport line for sure, the interior is very sexy and it has the best rims by far. i like having choices myself and change clearly isnt always bad.

Can somone from a region where the F20 is sold chime in? What choices, as far as trims and interior colors, are available to you if you choose neither of the two lines? And yes, I realize that won't necessarily predict the situation in the US market or any other market for the 3 series for that matter, but it is at least a start.
