Mean reason could be that, while buying a new car, for most people it must be better, bigger, more HP then the previous one.....manufacturers do know that, so it is also a marketing instrument IMO.....
I do hope that someday things will be reversed..........smaller cars, better handling, less fuell consumption, needs less HP for maximum Driving Fun........
Bigger, is indeed, not always better.................
